    These seven ski resorts are very family friendly. They have dry champagne powder snow with sunny mild temperatures. Early season, with challenging terrains for all levels of skiers/snowboarders. Up to 7.5m/25ft of snow can fall on the slopes in a single season. And they have breath-taking sceneries with qualitative good restaurants and a variety of amenities. Last three ski areas have a lower level of amenities.

    A 34 minute drive from Villa Orion Penticton. Unique attributes of Apex Mountain Resort – located west of Penticton – compared with the other three Okanagan ski resorts:
    • Excellent Alpine resort for cross-country skiers and snowshoers.

    Nordic trails are available 7km/4.4mi west at Nickel Plate Cross-Country Ski Club. Here you find 25km/15.5mi of trails groomed specifically for snowshoeing. Trails here range from beginner walks in open meadows to advanced trails that trek to semi-alpine areas with amazing views.
    • Trail Network = Classic and skate skiers glide through the forest, cross open meadows and climb to panoramic lookouts on 56km/35mi of groomed trails. This venue is ideal for families and beginners with 70% of trails rated easy and another 20% intermediate. Fido is even welcome on the K-9 trail to the shores of Nickel Plate Lake.
    Challenging Terrain for advanced free-heelers is on 20km/12mi of un-groomed back country forestry trails and the climbs and descents of the black-rated trails.
